I was running a low grade fever, but it got high enough to call the doctor.  He wanted to see me in the office the next morning.  Mom took the morning off to drive me, because I was still on pain medicine.  It was a good thing someone was home with me, I passed a rather large clot as I was getting ready to go to the doctor's office.  Mom told me it was the size of an orange, but told everyone else it was the size of a grapefruit.  She didn't want to scare me.  When she called the doctor, they said that I bypassed the office and needed to go to St. Vincent's emergency room.  Well after a few pokes with needles, and a bunch of tests, they found that my hemoglobin had dropped to 6.4. Normal hemoglobin should be 12-14.  They knew it wouldn't be that high because of the surgery, but it should be in the 9-10 range because I had been given 2 units of blood after the surgery on the 24th.  They decided to give me 2 units of blood in increase my hemoglobin level.  They think the clot may have passed and that could have solved the problem.

I am still bleeding moderately, but this time my temperature rose to 101.8.  Again I bypassed the doctor's office and headed straight to St. Vincent's Emergency Room.   I sat in the waiting room for several hours because the only symptom that I exhibited was a fever and they thought that was pretty mild.  When they finally got me back to the exam room, they started all kinds of tests, including a rainbow of blood tubes!  One of the blood tests showed an elevated white blood count.  Now to do the investigating and locate where the infection was.  After x-rays, cat scans, and other tests it finally showed a large pocket of fluid with gas bubbles in my enlarged uterus.  The bubbles meant there was infection of some sort.  They wanted to operate in the morning to clean out the uterus and then force the uterus to continue shrinking.  I had some IV antibiotics started and I was transferred to a real hospital room at 3:00.  My surgery was scheduled for 8:45 the next morning.  Chad went home about 1 am and came back early the next morning before my surgery at 8:45.  It was 7:45 or so and the doctor was visiting for rounds and was discussing what he was going to do when my transport to surgery arrived.  The doctor wanted to know where I was headed and we said that I was headed to surgery.  He didn't even know we had a scheduled time for an operating room.  He quickly raced out to get ready for surgery while I headed down to get started as well.  He said it was the longest D&C he had ever performed, he wanted to be very thorough.  He found a mass of blood that was rather large as expected, it was over a pint of blood.  After that I was given 12 more bags of IV antibiotics plus when I checked out with a strong dose for the next few days.
