Well my new address is High Risk Unit room #13 until the babies arrive.  The doctor seems to think I will make it to 34 weeks.  Gee only 3 more weeks in my jail cell.  My cervix is down to the cerclage and my blood pressure has begun to spike, and now I have protein spilling into my urine, which indicates mild pre-eclampsia.  It is mild protein loss, but with anyone with multiples, any loss is serious.  I now have the TV schedule memorized, taking morning naps, afternoon naps, and evening naps.  I guess that I am not tempted to do anything around the house.  I had another full scan today.  Baby A is 2 lbs and 13 ounces and she has now moved to the back but still heads down.  I think she was tired of having the monitor strapped on top of her, since she was in the middle.  Baby B weighed 4 lbs and 0 ounces, I think he has earned the name of porker.  Baby C weighs 3 lbs. and 4 ounces.  The doctor is not concerned about the differences in weight because they are all still making consistent weight gain.  All of them passed the bio-physical test again today.

The doctor wants to schedule an amniocentesis on the largest boy for tomorrow morning.  I am really nervous about that procedure, but it is for the best.  Today I hit 33 weeks and I am pretty excited about that.  No eating after midnight tonight.  The nurse tells me that the doctor's schedule is pretty clear except for tomorrow afternoon.  My name is penciled in for a c-section if the amniocentesis is positive for fetal lung maturity.

The amniocentesis is scheduled for today.  It was not as bad as I thought it was going to be, it hurt a little but not near as much as I thought.  They used the ultrasound to guide the needle, so they are going to go ahead and do a full scan today.  They estimate both boys to be over 4 lbs and Katelyn is still registering at 2 lbs and 13 ounces.  They still won't let me eat or drink until the results are back in.  At 12:00 the results came back that we are mature and we could go any time.  He calls to schedule the c-section for the next morning so that we have plenty of time to talk to the anesthesiologist and get family members there.  They give me the go ahead to eat and drink.  I sent Chad out to get me a cheeseburger and a Large Green Slushy from Dairy Queen.  I only ate 1/2 of the sandwich because I was still not fully comfortable from the procedure that morning.  But I did drink the whole slushy.  About 1:45 I sent Chad home to get  clothes so that he could spend the night and be ready early for the 8:00 C-section.  I laid down for a nap at 2:00.  I woke up at 2:30 and had to go to the bathroom.  I sat up and wet the bed a little bit, then I stood up and wet the floor a whole lot.  I was so embarrassed that I had peed the bed and floor.  I called the nurse and they came and said they thought it was a lot of fluid to be in my bladder!  Somebody had broken their water!  A quick call to the resident to confirm and yes it was amniotic fluid.  Now we had to do a quick ultrasound to determine who wanted to escape today instead of tomorrow.  Katelyn had decided to pop a hole in her swimming pool, and needed to be monitored.  We found a good heartbeat, and since I had eaten they had decided to try and hold me until 7:30 that evening.  I called Chad and told him not to dawdle on his way back.  Katelyn began to have some trouble not being in her aquatic environment.  They decided to call Dr. Sumners and tell him that we needed to go now because her heart rate was not staying consistent.  I called Chad and told him that he needed to get here now they were taking me very quickly, because Katelyn wasn't fairing well.  They put in my epidural and got me prepped in the room.  Everybody was racing around pretty quick.  Thank goodness for one of the nurses from the unit, who was with me as they prepped me, she kept me so calm and she got to stay with me in surgery as well.  Chad got there in enough time to be told here put this on and follow us.  I saw Mom and Dad in the hallway and was wheeled down to the operating room, I really didn't even have time to say "see ya later" ( I think I was a little out of it from the epidural).

I don't remember much of the surgery except that I was very groggy.  The babies came out in the order they had been called for the entire pregnancy.  Katelyn Elizabeth was born at 4:20 pm weighing in at 2 lbs and 13 oz and 15" long.  Kyle Alexander was next at 4:21 weighing in at 4 lbs and 6 oz and was 16 and 1/2 " long.  Kolden Oliver blessed us with his presence at 4:22 weighing 4 lbs 7 1/2 oz and was 18 3/4 " long.  All babies were in great shape.  Kolden had to have a CPAP to help with breathing for a couple of days and then quickly switched to a nasal tube.  Who would have thought that he would be the first one home!

That evening I started to have some problems.  My blood pressure dropped to 50/36 due to a loss of blood from surgery.  They had to give me 2 units of blood and some pretty strong medicine to force my uterus to contract.  I was miserable because I hadn't been allowed to eat or drink until the next day in the late afternoon and all I wanted was some water!!!  I was not even allowed to see my own children except in pictures because of all of the problems I was having.  When I finally went to see them, they looked so small and yet so big all at the same time.  I still am not sure how they all fit in my tummy!

They have officially released me, which is emotional in itself.  I am leaving and heading home without my three most precious babies.  It is very hard to watch other mothers leaving and taking their babies home.
